MAKEUP COLLAB USING THE NYX ULTIMATE SHADOW PALETTE

I'm very excited about today's post because as the title says, I am doing a collaboration with an old friend and new youtuber, Toyosi Onabamiro. Toyosi and I attended Uni together back in Nigeria but lost touch after we graduated and she moved to America shortly after getting married. So when we reconnected a short while ago through Instagram, I was thrilled to hear that she had started a Youtube channel to share her love for all things makeup and beauty about the same time I started my blog and felt like it was the perfect opportunity to do a makeup collaboration.

We both love affordable makeup and when I asked if she would be interested in doing this feature with me, she happily obliged and we decided that we would review the NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette in 'USP04 Brights' to each create signature day and night time looks for different events.

Toyosi went with creating a look for a day event while I opted for the night. Her look was created using the colors you see for a daytime barbecue get together celebrating the 4th of July she will be attending. She paired her look with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in Plumeria and you can tell that she was going for a vibrant, fun and colorful look with the mix of pinks and purples that come in the palette. I like how easy and effortless her makeup looks and how well it complements her beautiful chocolate skin.

My look was a LOT more dramatic (as you can clearly tell...LOL) and was created for an African themed birthday dinner/party so I decided to use my outfit as inspiration for my look. The palette has 4 different shades of blue ( 2 matte and 2 shimmer shadows) and so I used 3 of the darker shades on my lids and outer crease while using an orange and a bit of the yellow shades as transition colors. I also used the lemon green shimmer shade in my tear duct area but it obviously did not show up; if I had used a little bit of concealer first, maybe I would have gotten better color payoff. I've been eager to try out the dark vampy lip and used this look as the perfect excuse to attempt it with the Wet n Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit in So Noir Cool. Personally, I really liked how everything came together and can't wait to rock it to my event in a few weeks.

To give you a tiny review of the palette, it retailed for $17 at Target (it is also available at Ulta Beauty and NYX stores) and so is considered a drugstore brand. The colors come off slightly powdery but nothing crazy and takes a bit of layering to achieve color payoff. The palette is a mix of matte (10) and shimmer (6) shades and as long as you use concealer over your eyes before application, you should get good wear on them through the day.

Toyosi and I will be collaborating some more in the very near future on more makeup and beauty related content and possibly even have her feature as my Ibogirl Boss Of The Day because she is a P.R pro out here making her coin but in the meantime, please go show her some love and support by subscribing to her Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCofheVQDvdqy-drVmwpYIzg
Also turn on your notifications so you don't miss any of her new videos and of course to see how she came up with her look today. Connect with her on her social media:

I'm sure she would love to hear from you and when she does, tell her I sent you.

I'm happy we were able to come together to do my very first collaboration and look forward to more collabs with other youtubers, bloggers and beauty enthusiasts. If you would like to collaborate with me on any drugstore eyeshadow palette, send me an email on topeakwadaediting@gmail.com and let's talk about it.You are going to want to come back next weekend to see me recreate looks from five of my favourite style bloggers so be sure not to miss it.

Have a great weekend babes.

Love Always
