MY SUMMER MAKE-UP + LOOKS TO MATCH

Yesterday I decided to stress my sister out and made her take these pictures for me for today's post. It was hectic but thankfully, we got it all done. I came up with what would be my ideal summer make-up look and complemented it with four different outfit pairings that I would rock for different occasions. The look is a combination of yellows, greens and oranges, which in my opinion represent the perfect summer colours. They are bold, vibrant and fun and can be worn during the day or at night time. To achieve the look, I only used drugstore products and was light handed in my application of each product so the look didn't come across heavy or cakey...this is the summer after all.

The first look I put together was a more casual look with a pair of flared jeans I picked up from a store at Collin Creek Mall for less than $10 with an orange off shoulder top with lace details form H&M that also cost less than $10. I would rock this look to the movies either during the day or to catch an evening film. It's very comfortable and requires little to no fuss at all.

The second look I'm sporting is a popular one among my fellow African divas and it's a midi length ankara dress that I paired with these white sneakers I got from Payless. The dress is perfect for a day out shopping or lunching with friends and that is precisely where I would wear it. The material of this particular dress is pretty sparkly which is why I toned it down with the sneakers but it would equally transition perfectly for an evening look. All I would do would be to switch up my shoes for a cute pair of heels or wedges, add a cute purse or clutch and I'll be good to go.

This loose fitting cold shoulder dress is something I would wear to a business lunch or even to work in the middle of the week (depending on your office dress culture). It's a nice and light material perfect for the heat during the day but again it also works for night time because of its dark green colour. I got the dress on Amazon and paired it with one of my favourite army-esque flat shoes with a mix of green and gold jewellery.

This last look is probably my favourite one and it's another ankara number made into a beautiful off shoulder maxi dress. I absolutely love the vibrant colours and I would for sure wear this to church on Sunday and perhaps even on a date. It's got pockets which I love ( and always seem to include in my dresses), paired it with another favourite of mine, my big hoop earrings and brown flat sandals (not pictured). I'm rocking my natural hair in all of these looks which is great for the weather.

I used the Juvias Place Zulu and Hard Candy eye shadow palettes for my eyes, the Salon Perfect brow pomade and L.A Girl Concealer in Chestnut for my brows. Maybelline's 24 hour matte foundation is what I  have on my face after priming and colour correcting with L.A Girl's  Pro Prep HD Pro Face Primer and their Orange Corrector. My under eye, chin and forehead concealer is by Maybelline and for my contour I used Ruby Kisses 3D Contour Artist Powder palette. To set my concealer, I used Airspun loose powder and then the Iman compact face powder for the rest of my face. My mascara is by Rimmel and on my lips is a combination of Zaron lip pencil in Red and NYX Butter Gloss. The look is completed with Claire's Setting Spray to tone down the powdery effect of the look and voila! What I found neat is that the make-up somehow was able to reflect the dominant colours of each individual look, making it my perfect look for the summer.

Hope you enjoyed the looks and let me know what some of your favourite colour combos are for the Summer.

Love Always.
