WHAT'S THE BLOGGERPOINT?

In a way, I am referencing blog TBP aka The BloggerPoint run by blogger big sis, Maryam Salam but maybe not exactly in the way that you think. I mean let's face it, what's the point of blogging if it doesn't provide you with a sense of fulfillment? What's the point of doing anything that you are not passionate about?

BEST FRIENDS WITH SICKLE CELL - GUEST POST

Relocating back to Nigeria after an initial two years in America, there was naturally a slight readjustment period particularly when I started at a new school. I was bullied for having a "fake American accent" and no one really understood my condition it seemed, so I just mostly always kept to myself.

TRIGGERED...

You must have been living under a rock if you haven't been keeping up with all the news on some of our favorite celebrities lately. Suffice it to say that these are some pretty scary times we're living in where nothing seems sacred anymore; lines are perpetually being crossed and it's all just getting to be 'team too much'.

SELF CARE TIPS FOR BAD DAYS

Bad Days- we all have them. Some last longer than others but all equally an annoyance and a pain in the ass that I'm sure we would rather do without. It's so important that we take time out to care for ourselves- body, mind and spirit, otherwise we run the risk of a severe burn out or worse case scenario, slip into a depression.

THE SICKLE CELL DRINKER

In some of my earlier posts, I shared that my late brother consumed alcohol, perhaps a little more than he should (if he should have even been drinking at all). In my opinion, I think he did it as an act of defiance, not wanting to allow the fact that he had sickle cell completely take over his life or feel the need to rely solely medication to ease his pain.

Happy Valentine's Day beautiful people! THE SICKLE CELL SMOKER

Smoking by itself is bad for anyone health-wise as it is one of the primary causes of lung cancer but add having sickle cell disease to tobacco smoke exposure and what happens is an increased risk of acute chest syndrome (ACS) and pain in adults.

WAKANDA THINGS I'M DOING DIFFERENTLY IN 2019

It was probably the most talked about, anticipated and dare I say loved movie of 2018. Black Panther was more than just a movie, it was a movement and the first time an all black cast carried a film so excellently not to mention a black super hero that was relatable and aspirational at the same time.

EXPLAINING SICKLE CELL TO CHILDREN

An adult living with sickle cell is one thing but how does a parent go about explaining sickle cell to children? How do you begin to explain to your child that he/she can't do certain things that his/her friends are able to? When they start asking questions about why they continually have to take medication or have more doctors' appointments than normal, what do you say?

MY SHOPPING FINDS: COLLAB WITH MRS. BIODUN DA-SILVA

Two weeks ago, on MLK day, I hooked up with the lovely Mrs. Biodun Da-Silva who is the brain behind www.whenwomenarise.com for a girl's day out filled with food, good ol' retail therapy and some positive vibes. We had been talking about collaborating for a while and finally got a chance to hang out and chop it up with regards to life in general, our blogging journeys and individual causes.
