WHY I STILL LIKE BLOGGING (EVEN THOUGH IT'S A FORGOTTEN ART FORM)

I remember when I discovered blogging for the first time. I somehow had stumbled on Patricia Bright's blog online at work and became instantly hooked. In Nigeria at the time, Linda Ikeji's blog was the biggest and only blog that drew in a massive amount of readers for its news and gossip, then Bella Naija followed carving its own niche in the lifestyle and wedding spaces. I was captivated by the way the art of writing and imagery came together to express creativity and thought. I immediately started researching any other blogs there could be and that's when I found fashion blogs like Style Pantry, Prissy Savvy, J'adore and many others that focused on healthy living, lifestyle and travel.

As time went on, more and more people started blogs of their own and it was then I fell in love knowing that one day I would start expressing myself through this now forgotten art form. In 2017, I started this blog as a way to cope with some personal losses and to share my own love for makeup and fashion.

It's been 5 years now and I'm still here sharing and documenting all the things I love and am about (see my profile introduction). I've gone from writing mostly about sickle cell issues and makeup to bringing you faith and lifestyle content. It is still a favorite way of mine to document and share where I am in life, what I love, all the things I'm learning and how I have been growing personally and spiritually.

Writing feels natural to me and that's why I still like blogging so much even though it's now a forgotten art form. Many people have been able to make a living for themselves and provide for their loved ones through this very means but I suppose now it's all about YouTube views, subscribers and Instagram followers which is all still great.

So although I have diversified to the above mentioned social media platforms, I still maintain this blog because when I needed a place of escape in some of my toughest moments, this was where I came (and still is where I come). It continues to force my creativity to find expression, allows me the safety of  being my true authentic self as I express my thoughts, knowledge and opinions. The dream is still to be able to do this on a grand scale writing for big brands and businesses home and abroad. So I guess what I'm saying is that I eventually want to become a paid luxury travel blogger with emphasis on "paid" and "luxury"😉

XOXO
